Weekly News 9th January 2020

Hello everyone and welcome back to fresh new term! We have started our new topic, Misty Mountain Sierra, and will  be exploring the mountainous geography of Britain and the world.

We started off this week by giving the children an opportunity to practice orienteering around the school grounds and we explored the cardinal directions of the compass.

In English, we have been writing letters to a new character that we have met in our book.

In science, we are building on our knowledge of solids, liquids and gasses, and how these changing states create the global water cycle. We have made our own mini water cycle models to keep in class, but as there has been very little sun to power them, not a lot has happened yet!

In art we are admiring the work of Georgia O'Keeffe- in particular, her paintings of mountains. We have started to draw our own.

This week, we have been challenging ourselves with 'inspirational maths' activities. Hopefully, your children have been telling you about Pascal's triangle and the four 4s challenge. You might also want to ask your child why the chicken wanted to cross the Mobius strip.
