Winning Wizards!

Here is a video of the winning spell from our Wizards' Workshop. Enjoy!

Wizards' Workshop

Last week, we were set the challenge of writing our own spells, learning them off by heart and performing them to Whale Class. All the children were very expressive in their performance and included lots of exciting actions! We also made colourful potions to accompany our work.

Welcome to Wonderland!

We have loved studying 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll this half term! We decided to celebrate our learning by sharing the story with the school in assembly and inviting our families to a Mad Hatter's  Tea Party afterwards.
Thank you to everyone who attended!

World Book Day

We have loved celebrating World Book Day today! The children have created silhouette self-portraits of 'Which books fill your head?', listened to the story 'Gorilla' by Anthony Browne and create storyboards of what they would do for the day if one of their toys magically came alive!

Their focus and engagement has been fantastic - the finished pieces will be on display in our book corner soon!

Sorting Solids, Liquids & Gases

In Science, we have started to look at sorting objects based on whether they are a solid, liquid or a gas. The children were given a tray of objects and an opportunity to discuss their groupings.

Some excellent questions were asked, for example: "If sand can be poured, does that make it a liquid?" We will be thinking about the answer to this question next week.

Well done for being so inquisitive, Giraffes!

Miss Argyle is feeling inquisitive about this peculiar, icy item

I hope all of the students in Giraffe Class have been enjoying the snow safely over the last few days and are looking forward to returning to an exciting week of learning on Monday!

I wonder if you could help me out! I have found this peculiar, icy item. At first, I thought it was an ice wand to be used to make the snow disappear, but that didn't work...

I have put it on a tray in my warm house to preserve it.

What is this item? How was it made? What might happen if I bring it into my warm house?

I look forward to hearing your ideas!
