6th July

Hi Year 4, we hope you had a lovely week and a fun weekend.  Here's your work for this week: 😄

English

This week and next week, we will retell the story of Beowulf.
Monday: Watch these videos on you tube and write notes if you like, on the order of eventshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4B9OSgb8E0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgOi1YEU7TU
Tuesday: Make a story map of Beowulf and then try retelling the whole story to someone, using your story map. A good way to do a story map, is by drawing a long winding path, down your page and drawing and labelling the events of the story in order.
Wednesday: Write the opening paragraph of your story. Try to make it an exciting start, to grab the readers attention.
Thursday: Read yesterdays work and self edit it and improve it by adding more exciting vocabulary if you can. Write the second paragraph of your story.
Next week you will continue with your story at your own pace, until it is finished. You can add pictures next week, or as you go along.

On Friday, please could you revise the words on the list here. These words are some of the National Curriculum words for year 4. You can learn the words in the same way that you learn your weekly spellings, or use the sheet as a handwriting lesson every Friday. If you are finding them rather tricky, you could try to learn half of them please, that would be great.

Maths

Here  are the videos for this week. Here is the Year 4 maths for this week and here are the answers.
Here are Year 5 videos and worksheets if you want to challenge yourself and here are the answers.
If you would like some more challenges and extensions, have a go at the challenges here:

Topic
This week we are learning about the Anglo Saxon Kings V's the Vikings. Read through the power point and then try the activities here.

Science

  • Week 6
LO: Recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things.

Complete one of the following tasks:
    • Design a poster to highlight the threats to bees and show people how they can help to protect bees.
    • Plant some wild flowers to create a bee friendly environment.

Hope you have a great week year 4. Take care and best wishes from us all. 😄

  1. Dear Yr4 teachers. The Yr4 Maths worksheets are the same as last week’s. Should these be different? Happy to have a go at the Yr5 if not. Many thanks
