Weekly News 27th February 2020

This week, we started our topic of 'Playlist' by looking at the sounds and science of panpipes. We then made our own and composed tunes to perform for the other children.

On the subject of performance, we are still hoping that more children will be able to come to our singing performance at Norwich Cathedral on 18th March. We are exploring whether we would be able to provide some transport there with the parents picking up at the end -  Could you please contact us if you think that this would make a difference to your child coming. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to sing on a fantastic performance stage, so it would be a shame to miss out!

Your child may have told you that, for our class assembly on 23rd March, we are hoping to stage a concert of the children playing their various instruments. If your child wishes to play a piece, they can bring it into school to practice at lunchtimes over the next couple of weeks.

Weekly News 13.02.20

Hi, we've had a very productive final week before half term. It's been great to finally find out how our class book ends!! It finished with such a good and unexpected twist. This week the children have written diary entries (for Arthur-the main character) and poetry. They also wrote brilliant book reviews. This has been a great book, both classes have loved it and some brilliant writing has come out of enjoying it together.
In Maths, this week, we have continued to work on fractions; introducing the concepts of Improper fractions and Mixed number fractions.  We have been trying to draw the calculations or use concrete and visual resources as much as possible, as this really helps with their understanding. Will be returning to this topic again.
In R.E. this week we looked at Sikhism. We learnt about when the religion was founded and about the main beliefs. We also found out about the 5K's-  items or symbols a Sikh wears.
Topic was great this week; making all different types of mountains using paper and cardboard etc.
All of Key Stage 2 will be doing their 66 times tables and Red Spelling word test this week.
       Have a lovely Half Term.

Weekly News 6.2.20

Another great week. In Topic, we have been planning a trip, visiting the worlds highest mountains, which has been really interesting. We also finished making flap jacks in Food Technology, to use as healthy trail food for out trek up the mountain. In Maths, we have started Fractions and the children are really getting to grips with this and consolidating their learning by making fraction walls and drawing fractions. On Monday, we did a long piece on independent writing. This is something that all classes will be doing at least once every half term.
We were lucky enough to have a visitor in our assembly today and year 4 enjoyed having half an hour to ask him questions afterwards. He visited as part of our 'Great as you are' work that we started doing in  every class last term. We learnt a lot from the visit and it was fascinating to hear everything he had to say.
Looking forward to hopefully seeing some of you at the reading cafe Friday 7th.
