Weekly News. Week beginning 22nd April 2019

Welcome back to the summer term!

We have started off this week by focusing on our new topic, Traders and Raiders, which brings the story of the British Isles on from where we left it in the Autumn term. This time we are looking at the colonization of the land by Angles and Saxons.

We had a brilliant time on Tuesday, visiting the recreated Anglo Saxon settlement at West Stow. We were able to investigate and interrogate the evidence that the Anglo Saxons left behind.

It was great to be able to imagine what daily life would be like for Anglo Saxon people.

In maths, we have carried on thinking about decimal numbers and have learned about hundredths.

The children have continued to make great progress with their times tables and reading. Don't forget that they should practice these regularly as part of their homework as well as the activities that are given out in their home learning books.

Weekly News. Week beginning 1st April 2019

In our final week of this term, we discovered that the title of our book is The Tin Forest. Now that we know the story, we have been working out how to turn it into scripts to perform to the class. The children have really enjoyed the drama.

In maths, we have learned how to turn tenths fractions into decimals and then divide and multiply them by 10.

In R.E, we have been learning about how Christians seek to bring God's kingdom to earth by looking at the work of Christian Aid in Kenya.

There is no homework over the Easter holidays, but we would like the children to continue practising the times tables as well as reading every day.

Don't forget that we will be visiting West Stow on the first Wednesday back. Your child will need a packed lunch.

We hope you all have a lovely Easter.
